The Marriage of Figaro

The Ohio State University Opera

Directed by: Peter Kosma

Set in the 1980's in an English country mannor, this modern interpretation of "Figaro" embodies the subtitle of the show, "One Crazy Day". The servants of the mannor manipulate the scenery; two turntables with off-kilter windows, giant picture frames, drop clothes and moving boxes play against one another to create different locations. Figaro and Susanna begin their day unpacking boxes and hanging laundry. The Countess' quarters are complete with daybed and exercise bike. Our act II opens with the count in his bathtub, continues to the festive ballroom for the wedding, and ends in the garden with a beautiful full moon.
